Sweet Baby Girl

After the ultrasound today, we went right out to purchase some pink. We already love our little baby girl so much! It sure makes things seem more real. We're thrilled!

Pink or Blue?

Matt and I were able to go in for our 20 week ultrasound today. A sweet little troll of a man was our expert sonographer. He navigated us through the parts and pieces of our little one. It was thrilling to see baby head-down, curled up in a ball of happiness. Everything looked great--from head to heart and down to the kickers. The heart rate was steady and strong, at 158 bpm. Baby was a little smaller than a 20 weeker and it measured at 18 weeks and 6 days, changing the due date to May 27th--still perfect!

From the beginning, Matt and I have always had the hunch that we were having a baby girl. Matt flip-flopped over the last couple of weeks, thinking maybe we'd follow in the tradition of his family and start with a little boy (plus we had the perfect name picked out for our little guy). But sure enough . . .

BOY, OH, BOY . . .

It's a GIRL!!!

We are both thrilled and immediately went out shopping for some pink.

After my first appointment at 14 weeks, I came home to a special surprise Matt had prepared while I was at work. He had baby balloons--pink and blue, to cover all bases, and new Dr. Brown bottles (which we heard are the only way to go) set out for me. We decided that whichever balloon lasted longest without deflating, would determine the gender. But these latex beauties just won't die! They're both going strong after 2 months. But maybe a scientific ultrasound is a better determiner than the old saggy baggy balloon test.

Best Christmas EVER!!!

We never would have thought a Christmas could be so wonderful. Our first Christmas together was by far the best Christmas that both of us has ever had. The spirit of Christmas was so alive in our home, as we started our own new little family traditions. What a fun adventure it was. We started out by opening some gifts the night before we took off down to Price to be with the Houghs. We both scored some pretty sweet gifts. We both were very spoiled. Kaye got her new favorite yummy perfume(Aqua Di Gioa), she also got a shark which was heaven sent for her, she got some new shoes, a new bag, some sweat pants, a toaster, and most of all wonderful Matty! Matt got a sweet new ipod touch, a college football game, cologne, a shirt, itunes gift card, sports illustrated subscription, and most of all his best friend Kaye! A year for sure that we will never forget!!! Thanks to all of our family for helping make this year the best Christmas EVER!!! We love all of you

THANKFUL HEART

My heart is bubbling over with gratitude this Thanksgiving season. I have always loved spending the holidays with my fabulous family whom I love dearly. But this year I am especially grateful for my changed status--no longer "Crazy Aunt Kaye" but now a part of the dynamic duo--"Matt & Kaye" . . . the Houghs! I am so grateful for my wonderful, handsome, helpful, kind, studly, husband--MATT. I have never felt so loved and taken care of. Matt continually looks for ways to serve and make my life better. He hasn't missed a day of leaving me a sweet note and goes out early to scrape my windshield before work. It's a good thing I didn't know how lonely I was before married life because I could never go back to live pre-Matty. I am so grateful for him. I am thrilled that we will be parents soon (May 22nd). I know he'll be the best daddy ever! Lily and I are treated like queens and our little peanut will be one lucky kiddo. I LOVE YOU, MARVELOUS MATT!

Naomi Peak

Naomi Peak! Wow can you say straight up. We climbed Naomi Peak which is almost 9,000 in elevation. During the hike we climbed nearly 2,000 feet. Throughout the hike we wanted to turn around and say the heck with it due to the difficulty of it, but we decided to tough it out and make it to the top. And that we did! We made it to the top and at the top of the peak you could see the entire Cache valley. It was quite a view.

Fort San Cristobal

One of the many fun places we visited on our honeymoon. It was one of the forts on the island that was built by Spain to protect the land against the many attempts to attack the city of San Juan
