Madi's First Easter

Papa Bunny came to the rescue with some surprise Easter baskets for Mama and Baby Bunny! Daddy kept the tradition of a new pair of shoes in our baskets alive this year. Such a fun surprise...and what great taste! Madi got some fun sand toys, an adorable, pink, ruffly swimsuit, and a dinosaur walker. On Easter Sunday, we went out to Hyrum to eat a delicious feast with Matt's brother, Josh, and his fabulous wife, Lindy. Oh, and of course, Madi's super cousin, Brenten! Ham and yummy potatoes...our favorite! We had a fun Easter egg hunt in the park next to their house and Madi enjoyed chewing on any tinfoil within her reach. It was a beautiful spring weekend and tons of fun was had by all.

PEEK-A-BOO!

Madi LOVES to play peek-a-boo! She smiles, chuckles, giggles, squeals, and laughs deep from her belly anytime we play. Any prop will do--blankets, toys, clothes, hands, even just shutting and opening your eyes. I caught her playing by herself in the corner by the couches. She was wildly thrilled and completely entertained all on her own. It seemed a touch lonely to me and pulled on my heartstrings to watch her play solo. I think she's gonna love her little sis!

Dinner & a Movie

Notice Lily hopeful for some delicious dropped morsels :)

Madi does not like to sit still. Thus, mealtimes strapped into a highchair can feel like torture sessions. So Momma has resorted into trickery and the art of distraction to get Madi to eat. We pull up Madi's highchair in front of the tube and let one of her favorite shows entertain her while Mom sneaks in a few spoonfuls of nourishment. This girl lives the good life, winin' and dinin' to classics like Super Why and Spongebob. With her fiercely independent nature, she LOVES finger-foods and especially loves to feed herself delicious green beans canned from Aunt Lindy and Uncle Josh's garden. What a hoot!

PUPPY LOVE

Madison LOVES her tiny, big sister, Lily, the chihuahua. She can't get enough of her darling, dashing, doggy. She squeals in delight as she chases her around the house from sun-up to sundown. Now that she's on the move, we have to put Lily's food out of reach and that poor pup has been on a month long fast since we forget to put it down when Madi's finally safely crashed in her crib. Madi bravely plays tug-o-war with Lily and tosses the toys so that Lil can retrieve them. She loves Lily's kisses and my favorite is when they rub foreheads together. Luckily Lily is super quick and can dart when Madi gets ready to pinch or pull her ears/tail. She is cautious about her unpredictable little sister and usually sprints away at the last second when Madi comes cruise missiling her way. But they interact more and more each day and keep each other wildly entertained. Madi's new trick is walking the dog. She INSISTS, with her stubborn, saucy nature, on holding Lily's leash from the stroller as we walk along. Lily will trot next to the stroller while Madi walks her for hours. All the passerbys smile and comment on how cute the little pair is. It's pretty hilarious. Oh, girls, girls, girls!

Crash, Boom, Bang!

Madi Mae is on the MOVE! During her ninth month of life, she switched from scootching (sitting up on her bumb and scootching to her desired destination) to full-blown, expert crawling. She cruises and pulls up on everything. I don't think her cute face will be bruise-free ever again. She'll fearlessly pull up on anything and then her little hands will slip, sending her forehead propelling into the bookcase. Her worst road-rash was Momma's fault, though. I didn't buckle her properly in her stroller and she slithered and slipped out the leg hole and fell flat on her tummy/face on the road. I've never felt worse scooping her up off the road and cried the entire way home as she slept obliviously in the stroller (buckled securely). Madi loves the new-found independence and is busy burning calories every second of the day. It's a little trickier getting her to sleep now that she can somersault, backflip, climb, and crawl all over her crib. She squeals and screams and hurls her paci out so that Momma has to come back in the room for many follow-up visits. OOOOOOoooh, what a character! We love our Madi Mover!
