A Bad Case of the Gurgles

Madi's newest vocalization--the gurgles. She has been producing these Chewbacca-like, Bigfoot sounds steadily for the last several days. Oh, the joys a little extra saliva can provide. What a character!

Grandma Patsy's Precious Pink Layette

Grandma Patsy spent countless hours knitting this priceless collection for baby Madison Mae. I know she will treasure it always. From the blanket, to the jacket, to the booties, and the bonnet, every stitch sings the song of Grandma's love. Everything fits perfectly now so we had to pack it all along yesterday on one of our long stroller rides. When we got to the Logan temple, we did a quick wardrobe change and set her up next to the perfectly manicured flower beds. Madi drew quite the crowd. One sweet lady watched the whole shoot and kept lamenting her grandchild-less state. She just couldn't get enough of this pretty in pink babydoll. A newly married couple in full wedding regalia came by to peak at Madi, too. Their photographer said, "Give it a few years and then we'll be doing your baby's pictures." I had a tiny "Lion King-Circle of Life" moment. At the temple, time--past, present, and future--melts together. I thought about Madi growing to be a wonderful woman and getting married in the temple. I thought of her having beautiful babies, being a momma, and passing down this precious Grandma Patsy collection to her little girl. And then I snapped back to reality when Madi erupted in a giant squeal, gooing and smiling at me. I'm so glad this little tot is only four months old and wish she could be little forever. But with each passing day, she gets more and more fun so I guess I will permit her to keep growing. And I'll just keep treasuring every moment with my baby girl.

Monkey Mads

Monkey Mads--At Four Months and Two Weeks

Mini Madi--Two Weeks Old

Grandma Black made this precious quilt for little Madi. Could it be more perfect? Madison is a character--a true blue clever little Capuchin monkey, swinging and screeching all day long!

Here she is in her monkey jams frolicking with her jungle pals.

How Much Is That Doggy In the . . . Blue Sky & White Clouds?

Grandma and Grandpa Black came up to Logan recently for a visit so, of course, we begged a few photo shoots out of sweet, wonderful, talented Grandma (actually she was quite happy to oblige, no begging required)! These are a few sneak-peak photos from our Halloween costume trial-run. MMMMMM, WHAT A SQUISHY LITTLE DELICIOUS PUPPY! She's been known to drool, chew on anything left laying out, and has even soiled the carpet a few times, but OOOOOOH, how we love our naughty little dalmatian doggy! Her older, chihuahua sister...well, that's a different story. :)

Baby Black Lung

Deary me! Oh, deary me! Poor baby Madi has the black lung (just go with it...I'm pretty sure she's fakin' it, but I don't want her to know we're on to her). Oh, the life of a tiny-tot-mini-coal-miner-baby. Poor thing. We sure hope she'll pull through! He he he he he he HA HAAAAA!

Screech Owl=Cuckoo Bird

Holy Ma-Goley. At the Hough Household, we are crossing our fingers that Miss Madison Mae will graduate from this new SHRILL, LOUD, SCREECHING stage SOON! It's hilarious for the first 30 seconds. But then you get goose-bumps and creepy crawlies climbing up your frazzled nerves (reminiscent of the old "fingernails-down-the-chalkboard" gig). If she's awake, she's screeching. Not out of anger or sadness, just to make noise. She loves experimenting with her vocals and has settled in on this rather unpleasant terydactyl-like/velociraptor scream. Our own baby screech owl. Well, fly away, little birdy, and bring back your sweet singing nightingale voice before we all go cuckoo...PLEASE!!!
