Punkin' Carvin'

Madi's favorite word right now:  "PUMPKIN!" So of course, we had to get down and dirty and carve us some cute punkins.  Our sweet neighbor kept leaving them secretly at our door until we had a whole family, just ready for carving.

Family Fun Times

Hey!  The master carver in action.  Madi's got her eye on that gleaming, sharp knife...so dangerous, so enticing!

Pulp hands--ooey, gooey fun!  I love how Po the Panda in the background is making the same face Mom is.  :)

Taking a little break.  This carvin' thing can really wear a gal out!
Finished Product:  Madi and Hannah Paci Punkins.  Madi loves to sit on them.  She hefts them around with mighty grunts and groans.  She wraps them in her blankie when they are cold in the morning, having been left on the front porch.  She loves when Mommy relents and lets her bring them inside to watch cartoons with her.  She especially loves their soft glow when we light them up.  They were truly valuable members of our family...for a few days...until they started molding and ended up in the dumpster.  :)

We took Madi Pumpkin into the windowless bathroom to turn off the lights and see her glow.  Madi got quite a  kick out of  her punkin pal sitting on the toilet.  She coached her through a toileting session---grunting, pushing, and yelling for her to, "PUSH...PUSH!"  Who knew?  Guess pumpkins poo, too! :)

Madi is a true nurturer. Compassion for a pumpkin is a rare trait.
